MEDFORD BABE RUTH SELECT TRAVEL TEAMS
Medford Babe Ruth enters "Select Travel Teams" into the Lou Tompkins All-Star Baseball League. This is not the same as the Babe Ruth All Stars or the Medford Babe Ruth Summer League. It is geared for those registered Medford Babe Ruth players who want to take their game to the next level and are selected by the Medford Babe Ruth/Tompkins team manager. The Tompkins league provides a very challenging, fast paced and highly competitive program. In addition to the approximately 18 games, there is a weekend tournament and a Tournament of Champions for those teams that qualify. Games are played against other select teams from eastern Mass towns on weeknights and weekends, usually 3 per week. Usually up to 14 players for each team are selected by the team manager based on their ability, performance and sportsmanship as well as the team's need for particular defensive position skills. A tryout session may also be held. To be eligible for consideration aplayer must have played in at least 50% of all spring season Medford Babe Ruth games and All-Star games if selected. The season runs from about June 18th to about August 12th. The cost is normally about $225 - $250 per player. Full payment is due to the team manager by June 1st.
Teams can be placed in each of the following divisions: A (15/16 year olds); B (14 year olds); C (13 year olds). Players must be not be older than that age as of April 30th.

If you want to be considered to play on a Medford Tompkins team attend the tryout. If there is no tryout then contact the team manager. Medford also runs an open Summer Baseball program with Arlington.
Note: Rosters are limited so not every interested player can be selected. Selection is made by the team manager based on the player's ability, past performance, sportsmanship and positions needed to be filled by the team and possibly an evaluation/tryout.
Medford Babe Ruth also has a separate summer league that does not have tryouts and is open to all players including players on a Tompkins League team. See the link for "Summer League" for information on that program.
